It is amazing how fast 4 years can go by when you are not paying attention. It seems like only yesterday when we brought home our rambunctious and highly energetic chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy, Cheyenne. Yet, here we are celebrating Cheyenne’s 4th birthday tomorrow.
People often ask me what it is like to have two Labradors in my family. So many want to get a companion for their current Lab and think that bringing a second one into their house will take care of all the playing and make life easier. Ha! Dakota was a breeze to train and is very laid back and easy going. We figured the next one would be the same – how wrong we were.
That is not saying that I don’t love and adore my Cheyenne. She is my shadow and makes me laugh harder than any human could. She always wants love and when I have my comforter on the couch, her daddy must get her blanket as well so she can snuggle up in it at my side.
Always a loving companion and always making my heart sing. However, she is the flip side of the coin to her full-blooded sister – eating sticks, running after anything that moves (especially rabbits) and man does she have a voice on her! Dakota hardly barks whereas Cheyenne never shuts up – and the pitch gets higher the more annoyed she gets.
Would I ever want just one Labrador Retriever? You bet your paws I would! Could I ever part with my Cheyenne? Never!
One Lab is an cinch but two is like a whirlwind. However, Cheyenne is a whirlwind I would gladly take on any given day. Not many dogs can make your heart sing but Cheyenne does and for that, I would never want to part.
Happy 4th Birthday Cheyenne! May you have many, many, many more loving years in our family!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Cheyenne had a blast with her raw cow bone (yes, Dakota got one too!). Of course, she didn’t know it was her birthday but she didn’t seem to mind the present.
Very cute! Happy Birthday, Cheyenne.
